An unexpected transition!

I called the NICU this morning to check on the cherubs.  Like every other morning I said "Landis-Smith for NICU C" when the receptionist answered.  Instead of connecting me to NICU C, she said, "did you say C?"  When I said "yes" she said "what was the last name again?"  "Landis-Smith."  After a long pause she said, "uh, hold on."  A few seconds later a nurse picked up and she was laughing.  "Are you looking for your babies?  Don't worry, they are here."

Our babies are out of the level 3 NICU!  Bright and early this morning they were transferred to NICU D, an intermediate, level 2 NICU!  Yea babies!!!  This means one step closer to being ready for transfer to a "special care nursery" closer to home.  We are so excited!  Here is a quick update on the little ones...

Annie - continues on photo therapy for her jaundice.  She gained 10gm last night which makes her the first of the group to reach her birth weight!  Go Annie!  She continues to be the rock solid one of the group with very few spells and keeps us laughing with her fits and personality.  Last night she spent 30 minutes wiggling and squawking on momma's chest, scooting up and down, turning her head from one side to the other, until she finally found the PERFECT spot.  Then she promptly fell asleep.  So funny to watch!

Eli - also plugging along, gaining weight well, tolerating his feeds.  He is off the bili light and his favorite nurse, Janine, had him dressed in a little, blue football sleeper.  He was a little more awake yesterday then he normally is, but still very quiet and relaxed and sweet.

Michael - gained 30gm Saturday night but lost 10gm last night.  The nurses continue to reassure us about this.  He is tolerating his feeds well and they tell us it is only a matter of time before his weight takes off.  He is sweet and cuddly and when you hold him you can't help but fall in love!  Maybe a momma's boy in the making???

Bobby and I will be visiting two local special care nurseries tomorrow morning in preparation of the trio's eventual transition.  We can't believe how quickly the past 11 days have gone!
