15 months!

Last summer while the kids and I were living in Goshen I had the opportunity to visit with several old friends.  Many of them brought their own kids along and at least 2 of those kids were 15 months old.  As we visited I was very aware of their very mobile, very vocal, very active little ones and I remember thinking that it didn't seem possible that my trio would EVER be that old.  And here we are.  It blows my mind.  Really, it does.

It seems like each new stage is (dare I say) better then the last.  We are having soooooo much fun with our very mobile, very vocal, very active little ones!  Here's the latest...

Annie

  • 21 pounds 6 ounces (25th percentile)
  • 30 inches long
  • waves "hi" to everyone and everything she sees
  • too many new teeth to count including all four 12 month molars
  • new words include "bwok" (block), "book," and "bye-bye"
  • said "bye-bye dada" when Bobby left for work one day
  • starts dancing immediately whenever and wherever she hears music
  • likes to read books to herself and always holds the books upside down and turns the pages with her left hand.  A lefty like her daddy perhaps???
  • starting to walk
  • signs "more" and "all done"
  • loves to torment Mikie and wants (and takes) everything he has
  • finally has enough hair to support a barrette

Eli
  • 21 pounds 11 ounces (below the 10th percentile).  I mentioned before that the pediatrician and Early Intervention team were keeping an eye on this since he has been trending down on the curve.  At this point we're giving him 1 more month yet in hopes that he will at least level out.
  • 31.5 inches long
  • lots of new teeth with at least 1 molar
  • walking very well
  • likes to squat while playing (it's the Korean in him!)
  • signs "more"
  • has had his first haircut - well, more like a mowhawk cut - and still has a mess of red curls
  • has a fake laugh he uses when he thinks something should be funny
  • non-confrontational like his mommy and prefers to stay out of Annie and Mikie's drama
  • likes to climb EVERYTHING

Mikie
  • 24 pounds 2 ounces (50th percentile)
  • 31.75 inches long
  • many new teeth but no molars yet
  • walking very well and starting to run
  • likes to carry things around while he walks
  • has had his bangs cut twice already
  • really likes to eat and loves to drink water
  • walks and walks and walks around the periphery of the playroom and kitchen with his hands behind his back and his head tipped down - a little odd but very cute and funny!
  • seems to find his purpose in tossing things over his shoulder and thoroughly enjoys emptying the bookshelf, the toy box and the laundry basket

The kids are still followed weekly by both a physical and speech therapist.  They recently had their 6 month reviews and each still have various delays - Annie's mostly with fine and gross motor and the boy's mostly with speech and language.  Bobby and I are thrilled with the progress they are making and everyone continues to reassure us that they are on track to "catch up" in the months and years ahead.

And here they are...

  2. Oh, my, such fun!!! I will TRY to teach Annie to hold a book "right side up" when I see her. Just wait 'til she recognizes letters. Then she'll get the hang of it.
Seeing "my" little ones develop is so much fun. Thanks for the update, Deana (especially since I know you haven't much else to do)!!!
